The rise and fall of the hips

Howdy Folks, sit right down and let me tell you a tale. This tale isn’t your typical love story where girl meets boy, they fall in love, and live happily ever after (oh wait, yes it is), but it is also the story that Disney didn’t want you to see (a.k.a. everyday life).

Once upon a time, there was a curly haired girl that everyone said “she is the cute one.” Her sisters were known as “the working one” and “the smart one.” So at an early age, this little girl developed a complex. Her sister’s never wanted to play with her because she was their little sister, so she developed her own playmates, barbies, my little ponies, Cabbage Patch Dolls, etc…but this little girl had a thyroid condition and a heart condition that no one was aware of until she became a little plumpy. In the meantime, the smart sister took it upon herself to begin calling the little girl “Chunk.” This cut through the little girl like a knife. Then when her father called her “Big Butt,” she began to develop her weight obsessions. Luckily her mother recognized that something was wrong (she had something that looked like an adam’s apple) and took her to the doctor where they found that she had hashimodo’s thyroiditis and MVP (mitrovalve prolapse). The doctors put her on medication and the weight began to regulate itself.

When she moved to Florida, the little girl realized that she was shaped VERY differently than the other little 10 year olds. She had hips and a butt, where all of the little girls here where sticks. This gave her a complex, but eating was her comfort. She missed her Grandma’s perogies, her Grandma’s cooking in general, but Florida had some new food for her to try. Throughout the years, she adapted, ate, and grew into her not-so-proportionate body. She grew into the poster girl for the “pear” body. No matter what she did or didn’t do, she always carried her weight in her lower half of her body.

Now flash forward, (do doo doo doo loop – Scooby Doo sound) she is now 20 and a whoping 188lbs. She survived high school, a few bad boyfriends, and was feeling very sore all over her body. She finally went to her doctor and said that she was concerned because her knees and bones cracked like an old ladies. “Doc” performed a bunch of tests and ruled out lupus, and a bunch of other crazy diseases, and finally found out that she had fibromyalgia. He put her on some medications and within 1 year, the “cute girl” got really “cute” at 133lbs. She had her curves but she was smokin hot now! Men paid attention when she walked in instead of paying attention to her model friends. Who would have thunk it that “Chunk” would be a total hottie!

She maintained her weight for almost 7 years. But then her body started changing, she was getting older and getting into the “almost 30 club” and weird things started happening. But she was still a looker when she met this “Giant”. The giant was really good looking, but her best friend saw him first and laid dibs (look up girl code if you have any questions about dibs). A few weeks went by, but her friend was not successful in taming this Giant. Finally the Giant confessed that he liked the “Munchkin” (a.k.a - me). A few days later the Giant and the Munchkin were inseparable. They began to go on dinner dates, lunch dates, breakfast dates, etc…pretty soon they were engaged, and then just a quick 9 months they were married. The girl slowly packed on 60lbs in these 9 months. Doc said it was all the “canoodling on the couch” that was packing on the pounds. The problem is that the girl loves spending time canoodling on the couch with her Giant.

Now it is time for the girl to lose those 60 extra pounds, get in shape and prepare her body to have a baby. No, she isn’t pregnant yet, but she hopes to be soon, so her body needs to be in good shape so she doesn’t have a difficult pregnancy.

Too Much Hip Chick’s Goals:

Drink 64+ ounces of water a day
Bring blood pressure into normal range for an extended period of time (which hasn’t been done since I was 18)
Walk 50-60 minutes a day for 4 – 5 times a week
Do light weight lifting 2 times per week
Get off the 6-9 medications for fibromyalgia
